Actions

  • Clears Heat and Cools the Blood
    For heat in the Blood level, especially Yin deficient heat, Summerheat with fever in children, and lingering fever that has injured the Blood or Yin. Especially effective in treating post partum fever.
  • Promotes Urination
    For Bloody or hot urination especially pre or post partum.
  • Detoxifies
    For abscesses, swollen throat, toxic sores, and snakebite. Can be taken internally or topically.

Contraindications and Cautions

  • Do not use without heat in the blood. Some traditional sources warn against its use with Radix et Rhizoma Rhei (da huang), Fructus Zizyphi Jujubae (da zao), Radix Astragali Membranacei (huang qi), Rhizoma Zingiberis Officinalis (gan jiang), and Frucutus Corni Officinalis (shan zhu yu).
