Actions

  • Soothes the Liver and Anchors the Yang
    For rising Liver Yang and Liver Fire. Treats head disorders caused by Liver Yang rising with symptoms such as dizziness, headache, vertigo, blurred vision, bitter taste in the mouth, and hypertension.
  • Soothes the Flow of Liver Qi
    For Liver Qi Stagnation with symptoms such as pain, fullness, and distension in the chest and hypochondria, insufficient lactation, and irregular menses.
  • Dispels Wind, Heat, and Clears the Eyes
    For red, painful, swollen, and itchy eyes, superficial visual obstruction, photophobia, and increased tearing (lacrimation).
  • Dispels Wind and Stops Itching
    For significant itching from hives, eczema, or other skin lesions, vitiligo, or neurodermatitis arising from wind and Blood Deficiency.

Contraindications and Cautions

  • Use with caution in cases of Blood Deficiency.
  • Use extreme caution during pregnancy, as Bai Ji Li can induce miscarriage.
  • If used topically, this herb may cause itching and/or rash.

  • 6-10 grams

Notes

  • Dry frying this herb will increase it's warmth, and dry frying with salt will alter it's properties to enter the Kidneys.

Combined Actions:
  • Regulates the upward and downward movement of Liver and Kidney Qi.
  • Nourish the Kidney and bind the essence
  • Calms the Liver and brightens the eyes
Combined Indications:
  • For vertigo and poor vision due to Liver and Kidney Deficiency
  • Lower back pain, frequent urination, spermatorrhea, premature ejaculation
