Flooding and Trickling - (Beng Luo)

Heat in the Blood - Deficiency Heat

Formulas and Herbs:

  • Bao Yin Jian (Sheng Di, Shu Di, Huang Qin, Huang Bai, Bai Shao, Shan Yao, Xu Duan, Gan Cao)

Modifications:

  • With heavy bleeding: Add Hai Piao Xiao, Xian He Cao
  • With spotting: Pu Huang, San Qi
  • With Yin Deficiency Yang Kan Add Gui Ban, Long Gu
  • With long time bleeding (Qi Add Yin Deficiency): Add Sheng Mai San (Ren Shen, Mai Men Dong, Wu Wei Zi) or Add Huang Qi, Bei Sha Shen

Acupuncture Points:

  • KI-2, 10

  • With night sweating: Add HT-6 Sedate, KI-7 Tonify or EVEN

Heat in the Blood - Excess Heat

  • During heavy bleeding time: Add Ce Bai Ye, Yi Mu Cao
  • With spotting: Add San Qi, Qian Cao
  • With Liver Qi Stagnation > Heat: Add Chai Hu, Mu Dan Pi, Xia Ku Cao
  • With True Heat Add Dampness: Add Bai Jiang Cao, Huang Bai, Hong Teng
  • With constipation: Add Da Huang

  • You Gui Wan (Fu Zi, Rou Gui, Shu Di, Shan Yao, Shan Zhu Yu, Gou Qi Zi, Tu Si Zi, Lu Jiao Jiao, Dang Gui, Du Zhong) Subtract Dang Gui, Rou Gui, Add Huang Qi, Fu Pen Zi, Chi Shi Zhi

Modifications:

  • During heavy flow (beng): Add Lu Jiao Shuang, Bu Gu Zhi, Pao Jiang
  • With spotting: Add Ai Ye, Jing Jie Tan, Xiao Hui Xiang
  • With Kidney and Spleen Yang Deficiency: Add Dang Shen, Fu Ling, Sha Ren
  • With young girls: Add Zhi He Ce, Xian Mao, Xian Ling Pi/Yin Yang Huo
  • When so heavy must use towels for the blood: Yunnan Paiyao, 1 red pill TID

  • With durring heavy flow (beng): Add Lu Jiao Shuang, increase dose of Han Lian Cao (1-1.5 Liang)
  • With spotting: Add Hai Piao Xiao, Mu Li, Xue Yu Tan
  • With Yin Deficiency Yang Kan: Add Bai Shao, Xia Ku Cao, He Shou Wu
  • With HT Yin Deficiency with Kidney Yin Deficiency: Add Wu Wei Zi, Suan Zao R

Spleen Qi Deficiency

Formulas and Herbs:

  • During heavy bleeding time: Subtract Dang Gui, Add Sheng Ma, Shan Yao, Hai Piao Xiao
  • With heavy Beng: Add Jing Jie Tan, Chi Shi Zhi
  • With spotting: Add Qian Cao Tan, Pu Huang Tan
  • With Blood Deficiency: Add He Shou Wu, Hei Dou, E Jiao
  • With palpitations: Add Wu Wei Zi, Mai Men Dong,

Acupuncture Points:

  • ST-36
  • SP-1, 8
  • BL-20 and KI-3 to tonify
  • LIV-3 to soften Liver
  • With very cold/pale patient: Moxa REN-4

Blood Stagnation - Xue Yu

Formulas and Herbs:

  • Shi Xiao Si Wu Tang (Shu Di, Bai Shao, Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, Wu Ling Zhi, Pu Huang) Add Qing Cao Gen, Hai Piao Xiao

Modifications:

  • With heavy Beng: Subtract Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, Add Yi Mu Cao, Xue Yu Tan
  • With spotting: Add San Qi, Tao Ren
  • With Qi Stagnation > Blood Stagnation: Add Chai Hu, Yu Jin, Chuan Lian Zi
  • With long time bleeding (Qi and Blood Deficiency): Add Dang Shen, Huang Qi, Bai Zhu
  • Alternate: Tao Hong Si Wu Tang, modify accordingly

Acupuncture Points:
