Common and Key Uses:
  • Tonsilitis, revival, and to clear heat
Actions:
  • Revives consciousness
  • Clears heat and benefits the throat
Indications:
  • Sore throat, cough, asthma, epistaxis, fever, loss of consciousness, mania, spasmodic pain of the thumb.
Location (CAM):
  • On the radial side of the thumb, about 0.1 cun posterior to the corner of the nail.
Location (AMOA):
  • On the extensor aspect of the thumb, at the junction of lines drawn along the radial border of the nail and the base of the nail, approximately 0.1 cun from the corner of the nail.
Needling Method:
  • Puncture 0.1 inch, or prick the point to cause bleeding.
